Spanish shipyard launches Saudi Arabia’s third Al Jubail-class corvette

Spanish shipbuilder Navantia launched a new warship into the water at its San Fernando facilities on Sunday, March 28.

Named Hail after a city in northern Saudi Arabia, the vessel is the third of five Al Jubail-class corvettes that Navantia is building for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces. Delivery is scheduled for December 2022.

The 104- by 14-metre corvette will have space for 102 crewmembers and other personnel, an endurance of 21 days, and MTU engines that will deliver a maximum speed of 27 knots.
