The Republic of Cyprus' Ministry of Defence has placed an order with Israel Shipyards for a second Sa'ar 62-class offshore patrol vessel (OPV).
Delivery of this second OPV is scheduled for early 2020.
Like its sister ship Commodore Andreas Ioannides, the first Sa'ar 62-class OPV in Cypriot service, the new vessel will have a length of 62 metres, a width of 7.6 metres, a draught of 2.7 metres, a crew of 35, and a speed of 32 knots.
Armament will include a 23-millimetre naval gun, 12.7-millimetre and 7.62-millimetre machine guns, and a Rafael Typhoon MLS non-line-of-sight (NLOS) missile system.
