Irving Shipbuilding and the Royal Canadian Navy have completed cold weather and ice trials of the service's first Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS), the future HMCS Harry DeWolf.

The cold weather and ice trials off Nunavut and northern Labrador were part of the vessel's post-acceptance trials, which are being carried out in preparation for its formal commissioning into service in mid-2021.

Irving delivered the future Harry DeWolf to the navy in August 2020. Measuring 103 by 19 metres and displacing approximately 6,600 tonnes, it is the largest Royal Canadian Navy ship to be built in Canada in the last 50 years.
