The crew of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) frigate HMCS Calgary have completed two successful counter-narcotics interdictions in less than 24 hours while operating in the Arabian Sea off Oman as part of Combined Maritime Forces' (CMF) Combined Task Force (CTF) 150.
Around 1,286 kilograms of heroin were seized on April 23 while a second interdiction less than 24 hours later resulted in the seizure of 360 kilograms of methamphetamine. CMF said the seized contraband had a combined total worth of over US$23.22 million.
Calgary arrived in the CMF area of operations on April 15 as a part of Operation Artemis, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) mission to help prevent terrorism and make Middle Eastern waters more secure.
