The Royal Canadian Navy's first Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) was commissioned into service in a ceremony in Halifax on Saturday, June 26.
HMCS Harry DeWolf is the first in a class of six patrol ships that will be delivered to the navy by local shipbuilder Irving.
Harry DeWolf was delivered to the navy in August 2020. It is currently the largest ship in Canadian naval service with a length of 103.6 metres, a beam of 19 metres, and a displacement of approximately 6,600 tonnes.
The ship completed cold weather and ice trials off Nunavut and northern Labrador earlier this year as part of the post-acceptance trials carried out by the navy.
