Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) has been awarded a contract to design and build four new Pohjanmaa-class corvettes for the Finnish Navy.

The new multi-purpose corvettes will replace seven older vessels in the Finnish fleet and will be capable of anti-surface warfare (ASuW), anti-submarine warfare (ASW), and anti-air warfare (AAW).

Construction will commence in 2022 at the facilities of RMC subsidiary RMC Defence. All four vessels are expected to be delivered to the navy by 2026 and will enter operational service in 2028.
