Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has launched the fourth and final vessel in the Al Zubarah-class of corvettes ordered by the Qatari Ministry of Defence.
Like its sisters, the 107- by 14.7-metre vessel will be employed on duties including maritime security and sea rescue. A combined diesel and diesel (CODAD) propulsion arrangement will deliver a maximum speed of 28 knots.
The corvette will also have a flight deck and hangar for one NH90 helicopter and space for a rigid inflatable boat (RIB). The RIB can launched and recovered via lateral cranes or a stern ramp.
