Spanish shipbuilder Navantia is currently negotiating with the Moroccan government for the supply of two new Avante-class offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) to the latter country's navy under a €260 million (US$287.6 million) contract.

The vessels will each have a length of 80 metres, a crew of 35, and a helicopter pad. Missions will include coastal and offshore protection, search and rescue (SAR), and pollution response.

Moroccan news outlets have reported that the transaction is still subject to approval by the country's monarch, his Majesty King Mohammed VI.
