A new helicopter-carrying landing platform dock (LPD) slated for the Turkish Navy has begun conducting sea trials as part of an acceptance testing phase.

The future TCG Anadolu was built locally by Sedef Shipyard to a design by Spanish naval shipbuilder Navantia. Delivery is scheduled for later this year.

The LPD has a length of 232 metres, a beam of 32 metres, and capacity for troops and various vehicles including unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Canadian federal government and Nova Scotia-based Irving Shipbuilding have finalised an agreement on the construction of two Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) for use by the Canadian Coast Guard.

The ships will be variants of the Royal Canadian Navy's Harry DeWolf-class AOPS but will feature modifications to make them more suitable for coast guard missions.

Construction of the two additional coast guard AOPS will commence this summer and will be completed by 2027. The newbuilding project has a total cost of approximately CA$1.6 billion (US$1.18 billion).
