Lürssen Werft has laid the keel of the future Karlsruhe, the eighth Braunschweig-class corvette to be built for the German Navy.

The vessel will have a length of 90 metres, a helicopter deck, surface-to-air missiles, a 76-millimetre naval gun, and two 27-millimetre cannons.

The future Karlsruhe will be built by a consortium formed by Lürssen Werft as prime contractor and partners ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and German Naval Yards Kiel.
