The Israeli Navy took delivery of two new Sa'ar 6 corvettes from German shipbuilder ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) on Tuesday, July 27.

The future INS Atzmaut ("Independence") and INS Nitzachon ("Victory") are the final two units in the class of four ships, which were all built by a joint venture formed by TKMS and German Naval Yards Kiel.

Each Sa'ar 6 corvette has a length of 90 metres, a beam of 13 metres, a displacement of approximately 1,900 tonnes, and an expected service life of around 30 years. The final two ships' radar and weapon systems will be installed following their arrival in Israel.
