The German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (Bundesamt fur Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr; BAAINBw) recently took delivery of a new warship from local builder ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS).

Named Sachsen-Anhalt after the state of Saxony-Anhalt in central Germany, the vessel is the third of four F125 or Baden-Württemberg-class frigates ordered for the German Navy.

The frigate has a length of 149 metres, a beam of 18 metres, a displacement of approximately 7,200 tonnes, and a maximum speed of over 26 knots. It will be crewed by 126 officers and enlisted sailors.

Rheinland-Pfalz, the fourth ship in the class, will be handed over to the BAAINBw later this year.
