Taiwanese shipbuilder CSBC Corporation has floated out a new 153-metre landing platform dock (LPD) slated for the Republic of China Navy (RoCN).

The future RoCS Yushan will be the lead ship of its class. Its duties will include transport of personnel and equipment to Taiwan's islands in the South China Sea and humanitarian and disaster relief.

The vessel will also be configured to operate as a hospital ship should the need arise.

The future Yushan's armament will include surface-to-air missiles and a point defence close-in weapon system (CIWS).
