French frigate seizes vessel transporting over 3,500 kilograms of drugs in Gulf of Oman

The crew of FS Courbet, a French Navy frigate operating in support of Combined Task Force (CTF) 150, seized a significant quantity of drugs on a suspect vessel in the Gulf of Oman on Friday, December 13.

A specially trained team boarded the small dhow using one of Courbet's rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIBs) and conducted a thorough search of the vessel. An estimated 3,534 kilograms of hashish were discovered on board.

The seized narcotics have an estimated regional wholesale value of US$1.8 million.
