Fincantieri launched the multi-purpose offshore patrol ship Paolo Thaon di Revel in a ceremony at its Muggiano shipyard on Saturday, June 15.
The vessel is the first of a new class of 16 patrol ships, seven of which are slated to be delivered to the Italian Navy through to 2021.
Paolo Thaon di Revel will have a length of 132.5 metres, a crew of 171, and a speed in excess of 31 knots.
The vessel honours Paolo Camillo Thaon, Marquess of Revel and chief of staff of the Royal Italian Navy during World War I.
