Fincantieri launched the future Qatari Emiri Navy corvette Al Zubarah on Thursday, February 27.
The 107- by 14.7-metre vessel is the first of a planned four Doha-class corvettes ordered from Fincantieri by the Qatari Ministry of Defence. It will have combined diesel and diesel (CODAD) propulsion, a maximum speed of 28 knots, accommodation for 112 people including 98 crew, a helicopter deck and hangar, and space for one rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB).
Al Zubarah will be capable of maritime security missions, anti-air warfare, surveillance, and search and rescue (SAR).
