Fincantieri launches final FREMM frigate for Italy

Fincantieri launched Emilio Bianchi, a FREMM frigate slated for the Italian Navy, at its Genoa shipyard on Saturday, January 25.

The 144- by 19-metre vessel is the final one of ten FREMM frigates that Fincantieri is building for the Italian Navy. Once completed, it will have a full load displacement of 6,700 tonnes, a crew of 200, and a maximum speed of over 27 knots.

Emilio Bianchi will then undergo outfitting at Fincantieri's La Spezia facilities in time for its scheduled delivery in 2021.
