The Indian government, through the Ministry of Defence, recently donated a fast patrol vessel to the Maldives National Defence Forces.

The 48-metre vessel is the former INS Tarmugli, a Car Nicobar-class patrol vessel that was in service with the Indian Navy from 2016 to April 2023. It was recommissioned into service with the Maldivian Coast Guard under the name MCGS Huravee in a ceremony on Tuesday, May 2.

Huravee replaces an older, similarly named coast guard patrol vessel that was also formerly operated by the Indian Navy.
