Zaliv Shipbuilding on the Crimean peninsula has launched the sixth Project 22800 or Karakurt-class corvette slated for the Russian Navy.
Once completed, the future Askold will be equipped with guided missiles for anti-surface warfare and anti-air warfare missions.
The corvette will be assigned to the Russian Black Sea Fleet alongside sister vessel Tsiklon, which is currently undergoing sea trials.
