Two new Type C13B corvettes were delivered to the Bangladesh Navy on Saturday, April 27.

The two 90- by 11-metre vessels of the Type C13B series, also known as the Shadhinota-class, have been christened Sangram and Prottasha.

The corvettes are designed to conduct anti-air warfare and anti-surface warfare using naval guns, surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) and surface-to-surface missiles (SSMs).

Secondary missions include search and rescue (SAR), fisheries enforcement, and marine environmental protection.

These are the third and fourth vessels of the Shadhinota-class, all of which were built by China's Wuchang Shipbuilding Industrial Group.
