Bandar Abadi to build LST pair for Indonesian Navy

Bandar Abadi has been awarded a contract to build two additional tank landing ships (LSTs) for the Indonesian Navy.

The IDR360 billion (US$25.5 million) contract will encompass the construction of what will become the eighth and ninth vessels in the Teluk Bintuni-class of LSTs.

Each LST will have an LOA of 120 metres, a beam of 18 metres, a draught of three metres, a helicopter deck, capacity for up to 15 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) of 18 tonnes each, and two 6,500kW diesel engines that will deliver a maximum speed of 16 knots.

Armament will consist of 40-millimetre naval guns and 12.7-millimetre machine guns.
