Russia's Sputnik news agency reports that the country's sole aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov sustained damage while undergoing refitting in Murmansk on Tuesday, October 30.

The floating dry dock holding the carrier became submerged in water because of a power supply interruption during a float-out operation, causing a crane to fall onto the flight deck.

The crane left a four- by five-metre hole above the ship's waterline.

One shipyard worker has reportedly gone missing while another two were rushed to hospital due to injuries.

Admiral Kuznetsov has since been towed to a nearby repair yard where its refit will continue.
