Philippine Navy decommissions legacy ships

Published on

The Philippine Navy decommissioned a number of its legacy vessels in a formal ceremony at its base in Cavite City just outside Manila on Thursday, December 17.

The vessels that were recently retired from service include the replenishment tanker BRP Lake Caliraya, the 37-metre fast attack craft BRP Boni Serrano, and 16 smaller patrol boats.

The navy said the decommissioning of the legacy vessels will help make way for the entry of newer ships into the fleet.
