The Nigerian Navy commissioned multiple newbuild vessels into service on Thursday, December 9.
In a ceremony with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari as guest of honour, the navy commissioned five small patrol craft, the 60-metre French-built hydrographic vessel NNS Lana, and NNS Oji, the third 31-metre seaward defence boat (SDB) to be built locally by Nigerian Navy engineers.
Construction of the SDB took place at the navy-operated Naval Dockyard in Lagos. Work is underway on the fourth and fifth SDBs, whose keels were laid during the same ceremony on Thursday.
