Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PAL has laid the keel of a new hospital ship slated for the Indonesian Navy.
The yet unnamed vessel will be a variant of the Indonesian Navy's Makassar-class landing platform docks (LPDs).
The vessel will be the third hospital ship to enter service with the Indonesian Navy as well as the second in the Makassar-class to be purposely built as a hospital ship after sister vessel KRI Semarang, which was commissioned in January of this year.
The vessel will have a length of 124 metres, a beam of 21.8 metres, and accommodation for 651 crew, troops, and patients.
