Five vessels were commissioned into service with the Bangladesh Navy in a ceremony in Chattogram on Thursday, November 5.

Now officially sailing as part of the country's navy are the guided missile frigates BNS Umar Farooq and BNS Abu Ubaidah, the newbuild stealth corvette BNS Prottasha (pictured), and the newbuild hydrographic survey vessels BNS Darshak and BNS Tallashi.

The corvette was constructed by China's Wuchang Shipyard while the survey ships were built by local yard Khulna. The two frigates are ex-People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Type 053H3 ships that were acquired from China in 2019.
