A naval auxiliary ship that had previously belonged to Serco has been acquired by medical-oriented charity Vine Trust.
The Edinburgh-based charity intends to operate ex-SD Melton as a medical vessel complete with consultation rooms, a dental clinic, an operating room, a laboratory, and a pharmacy.
Ex-SD Melton is set to undergo conversion work over the next 12 to 18 months prior to being deployed on medical missions overseas.
