Construction completed on new Indonesian Navy hospital ship

Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PAL has completed construction of a new hospital ship slated for the Indonesian Navy.

The future KRI Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo has capacity for 242 patients. The onboard spaces also include isolation wards for Covid-19 patients.

The vehicles that can be carried will include an ambulance boat, landing craft, rigid inflatable boats (RIBs), and up to three utility helicopters.

The ship will also have a secondary command and control (C&C) function.

The future Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo has completed undergoing a final inspection conducted by senior navy officials. It will be delivered to the navy on Friday, January 14.
