The Vermont State Police's Marine Division has taken delivery of two 6-metre airboats in a series for search and rescue (SAR) duties.

The vessels were built by American Airboats of Orange, Texas, and were acquired entirely through federal grant funding.

Each airboat is equipped with a 414kW fan-driven engine and is capable of breaking thin ice to conduct rescues in frozen waterways.
