Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue (AVFR), a volunteer emergency response organisation in Virginia's Gloucester County, has taken delivery of a new shallow-draught rescue boat from Arkansas-based SeaArk Boats.
The 16-foot (4.87-metre) boat with trailer was acquired for a cost of US$18,366. The entire purchase amount was donated to AVFR by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
Powered by a single Yamaha outboard, the vessel will be operated across an area that also includes the York River and Chesapeake Bay.
