A new all-weather lifeboat was recently delivered to the Hermanus station of South African rescue charity National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).

The NSRI said that the 14.8-metre boat, named Rescue 17, has a service life of 40 years. Its area of operations will encompass Walker Bay off Western Cape province in the country's southwest.

The newbuild replaces similarly named boat that had operated out of NSRI Hermanus for nearly four decades.
