Holcim's newest solar-powered skimmer boat recently arrived in Manila Bay in the Philippines, where it will be operated on rubbish collection duties.

The catamaran vessel Circular Explorer is operated jointly by Holcim and German non-profit One Earth One Ocean (OEOO). The owners say the vessel is capable of recovering up to 4,000 kilograms of plastic waste in one day.

The vessel had earlier been deployed in the Baltic Sea, where it was used to recover ghost fishing nets. Manila Bay will be its main area of operations.
