Hongkong Salvage and Towage, a division of HUD Group, has added two new high-performance tugs to its fleet.
Designed by Robert Allan Ltd (RAL) and built by Hong Kong's Cheoy Lee Shipyards, Mai Po and Sung Kong each have an LOA of 32 metres, a moulded beam of 12.8 metres, a maximum draught of 4.19 metres, a speed of 13 knots, and a bollard pull in excess of 80 tonnes.
The vessels are equipped for off-ship fire-fighting capability to Fi-Fi 1 standard with water spray. They are rated for indirect escort manoeuvres in addition to ship-handling operations.
The tugs join four other RAL-designed, Cheoy Lee-built vessels in the Hongkong Salvage and Towage fleet.
