Poland's Remontowa Shipbuilding laid the keel for a new ice-capable firefighting vessel on Friday, August 20.
Once completed, Strazak-28 ("Firefighter-28") will have a length of 29.2 metres, a beam of 10.47 metres, and two 2,700m3/h firefighting pumps. The vessel will also have a bollard pull of 45 tonnes, allowing it to be used for the secondary role of harbour towing.
The vessel will also be equipped for search and rescue (SAR) operations.
Strazak-28 is scheduled for delivery to the country's Szczecin and SwinoujScie Seaports Authority in the autumn of 2022.
