Jianglong Shipbuilding has handed over a new fisheries enforcement vessel to officials of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) in Liangyugang City in Jiangsu province.
Designed by the 708 Research Institute subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), the steel-aluminium newbuild is one of the largest law enforcement vessels in operation in Jiangsu province with an LOA of 71 metres, a beam of 9.3 metres, and a full load displacement of 850 tonnes. The vessel also boasts a design speed of 20 knots and a range of over 2,500 nautical miles.
The main engine may be remotely controlled from the bridge as the vessel was designed in compliance to China Classification Society (CCS) AUT-0 rules that cover propulsion automation. Joystick control is also available for the engine, the propeller, the bow thrusters, and the DP system.
The vessel's secondary duties include firefighting and search and rescue (SAR).
The vessel will be operated by the MARA's Fisheries Law Enforcement Command primarily along the stretch of the Yangtze River that passes through Jiangsu province.
