The City of Memphis fire and police departments has awarded Moose Boats a contract for the construction of a fire rescue and patrol catamaran.
The San Francisco Bay boat designer and builder will equip the vessel with twin 317kW turbo-diesel Cummins engines with Hamilton waterjets.
To be used to respond to incidents on the Mississippi River and in the Port of Memphis, the all-aluminium catamaran will be equipped with a single Hale fire pump flowing close to 7,500 litres per minute of water through Task Force Tips fire monitors and valves.
The M2's large walk-around climate controlled cabin will be outfitted for patrols, search and rescue and incident command. It will include Simrad's multi-function navigation screen, 4G radar, AIS and a Flir thermal imaging camera.
The deck will be outfitted for deploying life rafts and water rescue teams, law enforcement personnel and a large volume discharge for fire-suppression water supply to land-based apparatus.
