Quark Expeditions' small cruise ship 'Ocean Nova' has been refloated. The vessel was grounded on February 17 in Marguerite Bay, Antarctica, during low tide.
"As anticipated the ship came away with the assistance of the late evening high tide," said a statement released by Quark Expeditions. The statement added that the vessel has not sustained any kind of damage and there has been no leaking.
"We are grateful that no environmental damage occurred and that all travellers who were aboard 'Ocean Nova' are safe," said Patrick Shaw, president of Quark Expeditions. There were 65 passengers and 41 crew on board the vessel, but they were all transferred to Quark's 'Clipper Adventure' on February 18.
