Naviera Armas has turned to FRS's Al Andalus Express for a two-month charter to cover for other vessels in dry dock before the peak summer season.

The Cyprus-flagged vessel will replace Volcan de Tauce on the route between Las Palmas and Puerto del Rosario.

The 160.6-metre by 22.4-metre Ro-Pax ferry has an operating speed of 21.5 knots.

Catering for up to 80 passengers and 90 trailers, the 1987-built vessel has a capacity of 600 lane-metres.

In the fleet reshuffle, Volcan De Tauce will be deployed on the Los Cristianos to La Palma route, where it is temporarily filling in for Volcan de Taburiente. The catamaran Alboran will switch to the Los Cristianos to El Hierro line and Volcan de Tirajana on the Los Cristianos to La Gomera line.
