Nankai Ferry has ordered the construction of a new Ro-Pax ferry from Sano Yasu Shipbuilding.

The Ro-Pax will measure 108 metres long and 17.5 metres wide. It will have a gross tonnage of 2,820 tonnes and deadweight of 1,300 tonnes.

It will have a maximum speed of 18 knots and passenger capacity of 546 people.

Nankai Ferry will use the new ferry to replace its aging Ferry Tsurugi, which has been in service since 1997.

Nankai Ferry's new vessel is expected to be delivered by then end of 2019.
