Japanese shipyard Naikai Zosen recently launched a new Ro-Pax ferry designed for inter-island operations in Samoa.

Once completed, Lady Samoa IV will have an LOA of 48 metres, a beam of 12 metres, and capacity for 280 passengers and up to 225 cubic metres of freight. Two Yanmar 837kW diesel engines will deliver a speed of 11.5 knots.

The ferry will also be fitted with solar panels that will help supply electrical power for the passenger spaces.
