Grimaldi Lines' Ro-Pax vessel Cruise Roma has arrived at Fincantieri's Palermo yard where it will undergo a major lengthening and upgrade programme.

The extension work, which is expected to last until the end of March 2019, will see the 2007-built vessel's length increased by approximately 29 metres and its 3,000-lane-metre capacity increased by approximately 660 lane metres.

Other upgrades will include 20 additional passenger cabins and a new onboard restaurant.

Sister ship Cruise Barcelona will undergo a similar lengthening and upgrade programme once Cruise Roma leaves Fincantieri's facilities. The work on Cruise Barcelona is expected to be completed by the end of May 2019.
