First steel cut for new Isle of Man ferry

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has cut the first steel for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's newest flagship ferry.

The 133-metre-long Manxman, which is due to replace the Steam Packet Company ferry Ben-my-Chree, will be able to carry 949 passengers and have 495 square metres of additional space for freight and vehicles.

Manxman is scheduled to enter service in the spring of 2023.
