The crew of a passenger vessel came to the aid of a woman who was found adrift in the waters of the River Mersey in the UK on Wednesday, September 21, local news outlet The Liverpool Echo reports.
The Stena Line Ro-Pax ferry Stena Embla was about to depart Liverpool on a scheduled voyage to Belfast at around 21:40 local time when one of the passengers called out that they saw a woman in the water near their vessel.
A spokesperson for Stena Line said the ferry's crew then immediately threw a life ring and deployed a rescue boat into the water to pick up the survivor.
The woman was suffering from severe hypothermia when she was brought aboard the rescue boat. She was given first aid before being handed over to local paramedics who were sent to the area to render assistance.
Stena Embla later sailed out of Liverpool with its departure slightly delayed. The vessel made up time during the voyage to Belfast.
Stena Line confirmed that the woman who was found in the water was not a passenger on the ferry.
