New all-electric tour boat sets sail on Yangtze River
Published on

A new all-electric sightseeing boat recently commenced operational sailings on the Yangtze River.

Measuring 53.2 metres long and with capacity for up to 300 passengers, Jun Lu Hao is powered by a lithium-ion battery propulsion system developed by China Shipbuilding Group subsidiary 712 Research Institute, thus making it one of the first all-electric passenger vessels to be completed in China.

A charging time of six hours will enable Jun Lu Hao to sail for up to eight hours on battery power. Further, the vessel does not produce any CO2 or sulphur emissions while sailing, and operating noise is reduced to only about 50 decibels.
