The government of Pasig City in the Philippines' Metro Manila area will introduce two new ferries for operation on the Pasig River beginning on Sunday, December 1.

The ferries have been named Mutya ng Pasig 1 ("Jewel of Pasig 1") and Mutya ng Pasig 2. Each has seating for up to 57 passengers as well as a lavatory.

The vessels recently completed a final series of trials to determine their suitability for daily operations along the 27-kilometre river, which is the only ferry route that connects different cities within Metro Manila.

The city government plans to add more ferries to the existing route.
