Faroe-based ferry and Ro-Ro operator Smyril Line has started construction on an administration building at Hirtshals port in Denmark.

Together with Danish contractor HMU, they are building various administration and storage buildings next to the port's North Sea Terminal and close to the "container harbour" where Smyril Line's Norröna, Eystnes and Hvítanes dock every week.

The construction includes an administration building of 600 square metres, a 2,700-square-metre storage building and a 50-square-metre terminal office.

Smyril Line Cargo Chief Executive Officer Carsten Kjær said the work is scheduled for completion on October 1.

The new facilities will make it easier and more efficient to handle passengers, vehicles and freight, Mr Kjær said.
