Russia's Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant has laid the keels of two new passenger ferries that will operate between Saint Petersburg and the town of Kronstadt.

The aluminium catamarans belong to the Project 04580 series of ferries. Each will have an LOA of 32 metres, a beam of 8.7 metres, a draught of 1.32 metres, capacity for 200 passengers, and two 882kW engines that will deliver a maximum speed of approximately 30 knots.

The ferries were ordered by State Transport Leasing Company and will be operated by inland waterway shipping line Neva Trevel.
