A new ferry service is set to begin operations in Cebu province in the Philippines.

MyBoat, a subordinate fleet of local operator MCE Shipping Lines, will deploy eight 64-passenger catamaran ferries and two smaller 15-passenger speedboats along selected routes connecting Cebu City to the 12 other cities and municipalities in the Metropolitan Cebu area.

MCE's CEO Dr Nelson M Mejia Jr told local reporters that the MyBoat service will officially begin operations upon the delivery of the first 64-passenger catamaran ferry, which has been named Eiryl (pictured).

Eiryl is around 90 per cent complete and is scheduled to be delivered in March by Cebu shipbuilder Steven Deans Marine Services.
