Two high-speed catamarans have been delivered to the Potomac Riverboat Company in Washington DC by Metal Shark.
Designed for 149 passengers, the two 26.8-metre-long aluminium vessels, Potomac Taxi I and Potomac Taxi II, are now in service.
Powered by twin Scania DI13 081M engines delivering 375kW at 1,800rpm, the USCG Subchapter T vessels were designed by BMT Designers and Planners and BMT Nigel Gee. They feature a low wake and low wash hull design.
Both began operations with runs from Georgetown and Alexandria to The Wharf for an opening ceremony attended by Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser.
