The crew of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) multi-role response vessel BRP Capones (MRRV 4404) successfully rescued all 86 occupants of a light ferry that ran aground in Bohol province in the Central Philippines on Tuesday, October 9.
Personnel of Coast Guard District Central Visayas (CGDCV) in Cebu City received a distress call regarding the grounding of the 300DWT vessel South Pacific at 04:00 local time.
Upon arrival at the site of the incident, PCG divers conducted an underwater inspection while the PCG's Marine Environmental Protection Unit (MEPU) checked for but could find no indications of a possible oil spill.
The 67 passengers and 19 crewmembers of South Pacific were safely transferred to Capones and were given medical attention. All were later brought to Cebu City for additional treatment.
The PCG has released no other details of the incident.
